In what has been described as sad, worrying and entirely unprecedented, the royal family has three separate members currently battling cancer.
In January, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, announced she was diagnosed with skin cancer. Less than a month later, King Charles underwent surgery and was also diagnosed with “a form” of the disease. And, most recently, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, announced her cancer diagnosis after undergoing abdominal surgery. Now, the three are sending their support to each other.
On Instagram, Ferguson sent a sweet message of support to Middleton. “All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment,” the royal wrote in a statement. “I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome.”
“As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness,” she continued, referring to Middleton’s candid video in her garden. “I hope she will now be given the time, space and privacy to heal.”
In addition to Ferguson, the King has reportedly also provided the mom of three with major support recently. “When they were in hospital together there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her,” a royal insider told The Times. “He has been encouraging and supporting her throughout.”
Following their hospital stays, the two have continued to encourage each other, including ahead of Middleton’s announcement. “[King Charles is] so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did,” the source added. “[He] remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.”
With so many family members by her side, in addition to the world sending their love and messages of support, we’re hoping Middleton has all the support she needs to win this battle against cancer.
